Are You Safe, a Tampa non-profit organization assisting victims of domestic violence, presented attorney Janelle A. Weber a pro bono service award on October 18, 2018.
Executive Director Tiffany Bolt presented the award at the organization’s annual Purple Party, which took place at the Cuban Club in Ybor City.
Ms. Weber was recognized for her pro bono work in representing a victim of domestic violence and her minor child in an appellate oral argument in the Second District Court of Appeal in Tampa. With Ms. Weber’s help, the victim prevailed in the appeal. The Community Law Program of St. Petersburg, Florida, drafted the appellate briefs. Julie Weintraub’s Hands Across the Bay organization provided support to the victim throughout the process.
“It was an honor to receive this award,” Ms. Weber said. “I am so glad I had the opportunity to assist this young woman and her child and help fulfill Are You Safe’s mission of serving victims of domestic violence.”
Are You Safe provides legal and social services to victims of domestic violence and promotes awareness and education within the Tampa Bay community, legal community, and law enforcement agencies. The Purple Party raises money to help fund the mission of Are You Safe.
